ADEQ has chosen a sole source selection for the replacement of AFFF
WHY? ADEQ wants you to believe there are no other acceptable Fluorine Free Foam Alternatives
FACT 1:
ADEQ did No Arizona performance testing of the chosen product versus any other, they are relying upon Manufacturers Reported Data and Fire Chief feedback (remember that is how we got in the AFFF issue in the first place). No Vendor was invited to test their product performance against the vendor of Choice.
FACT 2:
The chosen product is classified as a Non-AFFF (Wetting) Agent per NFPA 18, AFFF is a Foam Classified under UL162. The Chosen ADEQ product claims to be an encapsulating agent, Foams are applied on top of a spill at 1-3%, an encapsulator needs to be used at 3-6% on class B fires and must mix with the fuel to be effective. A totally different method of extinguishment from the AFFF they are replacing. In plain English the quantity of an encapsulator required will be far in excess of a more appropriate F3 foam designed to explicitly replace AFFF.
FACT 3:
The ADEQ chosen product is a non-foaming encapsulating agent by the manufacturers own admission, as such it does not provide any burn back protection because there is no foam or film barrier between the Oxidizer (Air) and Fuel.
FACT 4:
ADEQ has ZERO (-0-) Experience in Fire Suppression and Extinguishment, ADEQ is an Environmental Quality Enforcement Agency, In plain English they are completely out of their Arizona State chartered expertise and jurisdictional authority by choosing a sole source recommendation of an AFFF replacement product without any active performance testing to verify manufacturers claims. In our Humble Opinion...
We 100% stand By this Statement and we have an open challenge to any and all fire departments including ADEQ to compare our product against any challenger in an open and fair fire test against multiple products. Our NFPA Test Data shows our products are superior, prove us wrong.
One product is not an acceptable solution to multiple fire types, we have F3 foams that are more efficient and more appropriate replacements for AFFF and its.
